Nominations

Nominations are being sought for this year's Cherwell Sports Awards, the event, in its third year, will take place on Saturday, September 14, at the Spiceball Leisure Centre.

The Sports Awards are designed to celebrate the value of sports and physical activity as well as being an opportunity to celebrate sporting talent in the district. They also recognise the significant contribution of those who deliver at a local level in schools and club as volunteers or coaches.

Cherwell District Council deputy leader, Cllr George Reynolds, said: "Winners from the previous two years have come from a variety of different sports demonstrating the breadth and diversity of the talent and activities available within Cherwell.

"We're keen to celebrate local sporting achievement and commitment and what better way to do this than at the annual Sports Awards evening. And this year's event will be attended by GB Olympic volleyball player Rachel Laybourne who will be presenting some of the awards."

Anyone wishing to nominate an individual or club for the awards can do so by completing the online form on the sports award page at www.cherwell-dc.gov.uk Nominations must be submitted by 28 July using the official form. Nominees should be advised of their nomination before the form is submitted.
